Competency-Based Educational Technology Endorsement Program (ETEP)

In 2022, Leading Edge Learning and I were tasked with creating four (4) competency-based courses based on the Utah Ed Tech Endorsement to assist school leaders (Principals and Administrators) in implementing the Utah PCBL framework. We then facilitated the courses during the first year to gather feedback and guide participants. Finally, after laying the groundwork, we handed the courses and facilitation cadence off to UEN to take over facilitation in the future.

The Competency-Based Educational Technology Endorsement (ETEP) is divided into four (4) courses. Participants will come away with a portfolio of work that aligns with each competency.

  • Foundation of Instructional Design and Pedagogy

  • Digital Citizenship and Information Literacy

  • Supporting and Developing 21st-Century Learners

  • Professional Growth and Leadership

Completing the EdTech Endorsement will help UT school leaders gain the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary for teachers to implement Utah’s Edtech competencies. This will enable them to create a supportive environment where high-quality instruction can thrive. By earning this endorsement, leaders can deepen their knowledge, learn from peers, and develop a plan to enhance their school learning community.

Program Goals:

  1. Enhance understanding of Personalized, Competency-Based Instruction in Utah’s PCBL Framework and the EdTech Competencies.

  2. Develop a plan to support teachers and the school community.

  3. Expand professional network across Utah by sharing best practices and challenges with other leaders and earning endorsements.
