Future Ready Schools Professional Development Team
All4Ed contracted the Friday Institute's Professional Learning team to build the Future Ready Framework and develop a plan to train those who attended the summits. The team brought me in to help consult on professional development and summit design.
Here is a bit of background:
Future Ready Schools® (FRS) is a core program of the Alliance for Excellent Education, a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., focused on educational policy, equity, and innovation. FRS was launched at the White House in 2015, and more than 100 school superintendents and academic leaders were challenged to create a learning network of school systems to identify and promote innovative practices to improve student instruction.
The backbone of FRS’s mission is the Future Ready Framework, consisting of seven core gears surrounding the learner at the center. Encircling the gears is “Collaborative Leadership,” recognizing that Future Ready Schools® requires other educators to partner with school and district leaders to promote innovation.
Through FRS’s tools and resources, district and school leaders apply evidence-based practices, resulting in engaging student-centered learning environments that empower robust learning opportunities anytime, anywhere.
The FRS network focuses on leadership. We help district teams set a vision for the student outcomes and school experiences that today’s modern learners need to thrive. We emphasize goal setting using our research-based framework, which advances policies to equitably deliver strong instruction, personalized professional learning, and creative community partnerships. Coupled with robust technology infrastructure and sustainability models, we build leadership capacity so that school systems can offer flexible, rigorous, and equitable learning opportunities to each student.
From the beginning, FRS has sought to bring school leaders together to learn, share, and build capacity to transform their programs.
